Where the water ends up
One commercial steel-building job
Gutter and downspout replacement on one commercial steel building. Storm-damaged fascia and a torn roof panel, then tear-out and haul-off, then a new seamless gutter. Every frame is the same building. The before and after sit on different elevations, so they are stages of one job, not a locked same-spot pair. The eave trim changes from green to black because that is the replacement.
One inch of rain
One inch of rain on a 1,500 square foot roof is about 935 gallons. Every drop of it lands in the gutter and comes out the bottom of the downspout. The only decision left is where the downspout puts it. Take the two buttons and watch what happens at the footing.
Dumped at the wall, the water has nowhere to go but down along the footing. It soaks the ground against the foundation and cuts a notch in the grade a little deeper every storm.
